About Eldorado Club

The Eldorado Club was an African American juke joint that hosted musical and dance performances from the 1950s to 1974. Legend has it that Jimi Hendrix sat in with the house band (The Dukes) in 1964, and Ike and Tina Turner took the stage one night. Though The Eldorado Club was not formally part of the Chitlin Circuit, musicians often added it to their tour since it wasn’t far from Nashville.

The Eldorado Club closed in 1974 when the owner passed away. Parts of the walls were still standing as of 2015, but the structure is very dilapidated now. Photos show faded murals, such as this image of two people with afros and 70s clothes standing by a Cadillac.
